Nestled in the heart of Manimala village in the Kanjirapally taluk of Kottayam district, Annapurna UP School is more than an educational institution; it's a community dedicated to fostering holistic development and a love for learning. Annapurna is located in the southern-eastern section of Kottayam district, adjacent to Pathanamthitta district, and encompasses the 11th ward of the Manimala Panchayat. It stands as the sole Upper Primary (U.P.) school within the Grama Panchayat, serving as the educational cornerstone for the locality. Its student body is uniquely shaped by the vibrant contributions of children hailing from wards 9, 10, and 11, adding a diverse and enriching tapestry to the school's population. Furthermore, our school plays a crucial role as the exclusive educational hub for students who have successfully completed their 4th-grade studies at both the Government Lower Primary School in St. Little Thresya and the Alapra Lakshmivilasam Government Lower Primary School. This unique learning environment ensures a seamless continuation of education for these students, fostering a supportive and enriching atmosphere. Founded with a vision and commitment to academic excellence, “Annapurna” has a rich history steeped in a tradition of fostering knowledge, character, and community. Established in the academic year, 1956-57, our school has evolved into a distinguished institution that not only embraces the values of its founders but also continues to adapt and innovate in response to the changing educational landscape. Prior to that, there was a pressing demand for accommodations for education, particularly for girls, who, after completing primary education, faced challenges in accessing better educational facilities in distant and remote areas due to socio-economic constraints. This situation was a significant concern for the progress of the locale. The primary obstacle originated from the limited educational choices and difficulties in securing school admissions in remote areas, where many schools struggled to deliver quality education, making school admission a significant challenge at the time. It was under these circumstances that the concept of establishing this school first emerged. The idea was led by the members of the Alapra NSS Karayogam. An attempt was made to start the school in 1955-56 but failed to secure legal recognition. These efforts became successful due to the efforts of the founder of the school, Mr. Kunjunayar. The school started functioning with the approval of the Government marking the beginning of its educational journey in the academic year 1956-57, with the initiation of the sixth grade. From its humble beginnings to its current standing, Annapurna has played a pivotal role in shaping the lives of generations of students, providing a nurturing environment for learning and personal growth.
